Assisting you to meet the Australian Aged Care Quality Standards

In July 2019, the new aged care quality standards were implemented to ensure that residential aged care providers placed residents at the heart of their decision making. It also meant a new era of scrutiny, with many providers facing an upward battle to achieve the mandated consumer outcomes and ultimately the 8 aged care standards. 

Allied health providers like Guide Healthcare are uniquely placed to support aged care providers to meet the quality standards.

Traditional ‘pain management’ models of physiotherapy service delivery fail to meet the new requirements of the standards. At Guide Healthcare, we’ve identified which specific outcomes we can support, highlighted the key language used in and designed our services to not only meet the consumer outcomes but also to achieve the best results for each individual.

How can Physiotherapist’s contribute to meeting the care standards?

  • Create a partnership with the resident by offering a choice 

  • Ensure that the resident is involved in 

  • Implement person-centred services which are unique to each individual

  • Work with residents to set individual goals and create a program that suits their preferences

  • Complete regular reviews of assessments, care plans, goals and outcome measures in line with organisational policies and procedures

  • Promote independence through evidence-based practice

  • Support residents to live the life they want to live, including the ability to take risks

  • Treat all residents with dignity and respect

  • Ensure service improvements and outcomes are continuously logged

All Guide Healthcare clinicians receive comprehensive training on the Australian Aged Care Quality Standards and, most importantly, how they can assist their home to meet the standards.

Staff are also provided with education on preparing for accreditation periods and successfully completing an interview with a Quality Assessor.
