Aged Care Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapists play a key role in providing aged care services to older people in the community and residential aged care facilities. The ageing process can impair a person’s ability to remain independent and participate in activities they previously enjoyed. This often results in a gradual decline in function, reduced community engagement and poor mental health.
Occupational therapists can provide treatments and support to older people with age-related conditions such as impaired balance, reduced coordination, memory loss and cognitive decline, vision impairments and hearing loss, which lead to changes in their ability to participate in the meaningful activities of everyday life.
Guide Occupational therapists can promote wellbeing by increasing a person’s ability to participate in daily life activities. By improving functional capacity, we can reduce the burden of care on your staff and achieve better health outcomes for residents. Our staff work closely with residents to identify what is most important to them to implement strategies that overcome functional or cognitive deficits.
